Problem
The frame rate of a camera significantly decreases if several users simultaneously access an IP camera via web services (not ibaCapture).
Background
If several sessions access a camera and their parameter settings differ (e.g. image rotation or encoding), this results in a higher load of the camera and therefore in a reduction of the frame rate. If, however, the sessions use the same parameters, the number of simultaneous sessions has no significant effect on the frame rate.
Remedy
-
Please ensure that all sessions (also access via web browser) are set to the same image rotation.
-
Please ensure that all sessions use the same stream encoding (e.g. H.264, H.265 or MPEG-4).
-
When using browsers, the corresponding plug-ins/add-ons (e.g. Active-X) have to be installed in the browser so an H.264-/H.265-/MPEG-4 stream can be displayed.
-
Some cameras offer the option in the configuration menu to set a fixed stream encoding and to disable a pick-list for other encodings. Use this option and set the same encoding as for ibaCapture.
-
Alternatively, you can also use ibaCapture Manager as viewer free of charge instead of web browsers. In this case, however, an active user management is recommended so no unauthorized configuration changes can be made at ibaCapture Server.
