Settings – Camera access

First of all, select the the connection type:

• USB: Select the camera from the drop-down list. Clicking on the <Discover> button displays a list of all detected, active Optris cameras.

• Ethernet: Enter the network address of the camera and the port number. Click the <Check camera access> button to verify that the connection to the camera is successful.

Measurement areas

Custom measurement areas can be defined for each camera by importing layout files.

You can define the measurement areas using the PIX Connect camera software and export them as a layout file (XML file). The procedure is described in the documentation for the PIX Connect software.

By clicking on <Load>, you can load the layout file into ibaCapture. The measurement areas are displayed in a list.

You can configure the following settings for each measurement area:

• Display position of the temperature value (relative to the measurement area) : none, top, bottom, left, right, center

• Display of hot spot temperature (highest temperature in the measurement area)

• Cold spot temperature (lowest temperature in the measurement area)

• Custom emissivity for each measurement area

Device settings

In the Device settings section, you can configure the following settings:

Operation mode

Optris cameras support various operating modes that specify the resolution, frame rate, and temperature range.

Color palette

You can choose different color palettes from the drop-down list to display the temperatures.

Palette scaling method

• Manual: The lower and upper limits (min/max) can be set individually.

• MinMax: The software continuously determines the upper and lower limits based on the brightest and darkest pixels in the image.

• Sigma1: The average value of all pixels in the image is calculated continuously. Based on this average, the standard deviation (1 sigma) is set as the limits of the reference scale.

• Sigma3: The average value of all pixels in the image is calculated continuously. Based on this average, the standard deviation*3 (3 sigma) is set as the limits for the reference scale.

Emissivity, transmissivity, ambient temperature

These parameters relate to the radiation loss of surfaces and the ambient temperature, which influence the surface temperature. The parameters depend on the material, among other things, and are described in the documentation for PIX Connect.

Calibration files directory

Each camera requires calibration files, which are provided by PIX Connect. ibaCapture automatically tries to find the correct directory. If this fails, you can change the directory here.

This requires an Internet connection. Further details are described in the Optris documentation.

Display settings

You can configure the following settings for the display:

• Temperature unit Celsius, Kelvin or Fahrenheit

• Temperature scale position: right, left, top, bottom

• Display of the hot spot and cold spot temperature for the entire area.

Network settings

The Optris Frame Grabber runs as a separate process and uses the following ports. The port numbers are set automatically, but can be changed:

• Control port: Communication with the ibaCapture Server

• Video output port: video stream handling

• ibaPDA output port: thermal data output to ibaPDA

• ibaPDA input port: receiving data from ibaPDA to, for example, control the camera's shutter and focus

Video encoder configuration

Select the desired encoder from the drop-down list. The corresponding configuration options are displayed accordingly. Available for selection are:

• NVIDIA

• Intel Quick Sync
