ibaManagementStudio can notify you by email when alarms are triggered or reset. This way, you stay informed about the status of your systems without having to monitor the web client constantly.

To use email notifications from ibaManagementStudio, you must first enable them centrally. Follow these steps to set up email delivery.

  1. Enable the SMTP server in the server configuration, see Email settings for server.

  2. Set up at least one email account as the sender of the email notification in the server configuration, see Sender accounts for email delivery.

  3. Enable email notifications for at least one alarm in the system configuration and specify the recipients, see Email notifications for alarm rules.

Email recipients and user management

As recipients, select users and user groups from the internal user management. Users only receive a notification if they have a valid email address stored and have view permission on the respective system. Users who belong to multiple selected groups receive the email only once. Recipients who are excluded due to missing permissions or a missing email address are not notified.

For domain users, the email address is automatically retrieved from Active Directory. If no address is available, you can manually enter an email address in the user management. This email address also serves as a fallback. If Active Directory provides an address at the next login, the manual address is overwritten.

The language of the emails is determined by the language setting for each user in the user management. If the language is set to Auto, the language of the ibaManagementStudio server is used.

Content of the email notification

The email is in HTML format and contains the following information:

  • name or alias of the ibaManagementStudio server

  • affected alarm rule

  • systems for which the alarm for this rule was triggered

  • systems that are no longer affected by the alarm

  • events since the last notification

If no content is available for one of these categories, the category is omitted entirely.
