The Global cleanup feature ensures that a defined minimum amount of storage space is always available on a computer's local drives.

Please observe the following rules when using this function:

  • The cleanup function only processes data files (DAT files).

  • Only local drives are considered, including external drives and USB media. Network drives are not included.

  • The cleanup function must be activated separately for each drive. To do this, select the Active option for the desired drive.

  • For use on the system drive (C:\), a subdirectory must be specified that is to be monitored by the cleanup function.

  • The minimum free storage space is specified as a percentage per drive. Consider the "growth rate" of the storage space for data files and the setting of the rescan duration in order to choose the correct value for the free storage space.

  • When the defined minimum is reached, the function deletes the oldest data files on the respective drive, regardless of the directory in which they are located.

  • It is checked periodically in configurable time intervals (rescan duration) if the minimum has been reached. The minimum rescan time is 1 min.

    Here, too, take into account the "growth rate" of storage space for data files and the setting for minimum free storage space.
