You can send calculated indicators over a fiber optic link (FO-link) from ibaCMU-S to an ibaPDA system by means of virtual channels. Because ibaPDA runs on the ibaDAQ device and because two ibaPDA systems cannot exchange data via an FO-link, this feature is not supported anymore on the ibaDAQ devices.

Streaming raw data from ibaDAQ to another ibaPDA system is also not supported.

If you don’t need indicators in the ibaPDA system, just remove all virtual channels from the ibaCMU-S device, disable the module for virtual channels and continue the migration.

If you still need this feature after migration, to be able to send indicators to an ibaPDA system, you can use the TCP send telegram as an alternative.

Below, the required steps are described, to reconfigure virtual channels of ibaCMU-S to a TCP send telegram. It is assumed that ibaPDA is the source of process signals.

Prerequisites:

  • One license ibaPDA-Interface-Generic-TCP is enabled for both ibaDAQ and the process data ibaPDA system.

  • ibaDAQ and ibaPDA are connected via network.

  • Not more than 64 channels were transmitted by the Virtual channels module.

  • A free TCP send telegram is still available.

Proceeding

  1. Add a TCP send telegram to ibaCMU-S.

  2. Create the channel structure of the send telegram.

  3. Transfer the trends formerly transmitted via virtual channels to the new TCP channels.

  4. Remove all channels from the Virtual channels module.

  5. Disable the module in the CMU configuration.

  6. Disconnect the fiber optic cable between ibaCMU-S and ibaPDA.

  7. Change the configuration in ibaPDA:

    1. Remove the current ibaCMU-S connection.

    2. Configure a TCP receive telegram.

    3. Create the same channel structure in the telegram as it was defined in the ibaCMC send telegram.

  8. Continue the migration.
