If you have enabled the unit table (see Configuring and enabling the unit table), the units are available for selection in the signal tables in the Unit column. You can either select a unit from the unit table or you can enter another unit into the field.

Units in the signal table, which are also available in the unit table are displayed without any markup.
Depending on the setting for checking the units, those units which are not part of the unit table will be marked with a warning or error symbol.

In this example, the unit µm is not part of the unit table.
The tooltip on the warning or error symbol provides more information.

If the unit check is disabled there will be no indication.
You can use units even if they are not part of the unit table. However, those units will not be considered when changing the unit system and hence the values will not be converted.
Measured values in different units
When configuring the signals, you can mix units from different unit systems. Therefore, all units which are part of the unit table are available in the selection list and not only those units from the primary system.
If, for instance, two temperature gauges transmit their measured values like one in °C and the other in °F, you can enter the different units in the signal table. The conversion of the values into the unit of the active unit system for display is done automatically where needed.

The signal tables of the I/O Manager, always show the signals with their configured units. This means that the actual values shown in the modules or diagnostic modules are always the received values but not the converted values. |
